Marc Fenwick was an easy winner with Judith Nutt gaining victory in the Womens' race.
In the warm, humid conditions, Alex Muir soon led the 340-strong field opening up a 20m lead in the first 800m. Still going downhill, the leader was caught before the Mile mark (4:52), now being joined by Fenwick, Liam Taylor and Alastair Spanner. Fenwick and Taylor then dropped their rivals after another 200m, approaching the tougher sections of the course, with Taylor losing contact after the halfway point. Fenwick's margin of victory was 30secs over Taylor with Matthew Horsby moving through into third place.
Gary Wallace finished 4th ahead of the leading veteran, Ian Dixon. Muir eventually finished 11th (36:15) and Spanner 13th (36:55). Fenwick also led Tyne Bridge to a successful defence of the team title.
Nutt overhauled early leader Wendy Chapman, to easily defeat her rival by a margin of 1min 37secs. Andrea Banner finished in third place making it a clean sweep for Veteran athletes. Nutt and Banner were supported by Valerie Wilson (11th), ensuring an emphatic team victory for Elswick.
