Weekly Round-up

(to 31st Dec).

The Boxing Day Pudding Run was a farce. It had a quality field but the lack of a marshal near the finish meant runners came in the wrong way. Bill and I were at the official finish. The confusion meant that runners came in from varying directions. Ross Floyd thought he was joint first with I think, Calum Johnson followed by W Indelbu, Markhim Lonsdale and Marc Fenwick. Tom Cornthwaite led after the first loop (2km), (not sure what happened to him ?), with Floyd vying for third. Andrew Lawrence was 8th at this point. Obviously no leading times were taken but I caught the first Woman Danielle Hodgkinson (17:25). She led after the first loop from a blond-haired unknown, Lucy Robinson and Sophie Marr. One of the main problems was that they reverted to the old course, where the fast runners virtually run into the "joggers" at the finish.
I declared the "unofficial" result as void.
Dave Brignall won the Heaton Christmas Handicap (23rd) in a time of 20mins 44secs off a Handicap of 8mins 30secs. Other Placings included: 2 A McDonald 18:54 (10:20); 3 A Marshall 22:52 (6:30); 5 Caitlin Souter 21:53 (7:40); 6 Nina Cameron 20:46 (7:40) (3rd fastest); 10 Anna Oswald (Camb&C-gst) 20:22 (9:20) (2nd fastest); 12 Sue Lindsley 21:36 (8:10); 21 R Checkley 28:26 (1:30); 22 J Barbour 16:17 (13:40) (fastest); 25 L Longman 16:57 (2nd fastest); 28 Hannah Shillitoe 19:29 (10:40) (fastest); 32 M McGillivray 17:20 (13:00) (3rd fastest). 51 runners took part on a damp evening, though little wind.
