ANGEL VIEW RUN
Gateshead, Tyne & Wear
Cameron Allan was an easy winner in the much warmer than usual conditions. The course this year was changed to a new Multi Lap competition starting and finishing adjacent to the Angel of the North.
On a beautiful Summer Evening, Lee Dover soon headed the field of over 200 runners, closely pursued by Allan and Jonny Evans. Allan took the lead with 2km remaining pulling away to a 57secs victory over Evans with Dover finishing in an isolated third position. Allan, a student at St Marys University, had recently finished third in the North of England 5000m championship. A fortnight earlier, he had won the Aycliffe 10km, two North of England League events and a BMC 800m in the space of 36 hours. The 800m and the 1500m League race, were in a personal best time.
Allan and Dover were supported by fourth placed Chris Coulson as Houghton successfully defended the team title. Keith Smith (in the M55 category) was the leading veteran (M40+) in 7th position.
Laura Cheetham easily won the Womens' race, finishing in 16th place overall. Lisa Short was the leading veteran in 2nd place ahead of Anna Fletcher, who led Gosforth to the team title.

Additional Comments: 221 finishers (last time: 78:51). Results courtesy of Paul Dixon (after race). To put it mildly there were major problems with the new course and the number of laps. Much preferred old course + start / finish area.
