KEN JEFFERSON MEMORIAL
Farringdon Community College, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear
Morpeth Harriers retained the Senior Mens' Trophy at a Meeting renamed after the former Sunderland Harriers coach, who died earlier this year.
The host club gained consolation by winning the Senior Womens' Relay and both Veteran events.
In the warm and sunny conditions, Taylor Glover led on the first leg in the Mens' race, being the sole runner for the Morpeth B team. Fell Running specialist Will Robson finished 2nd for North Shields Poly, with Thomas Straughan bringing the main Morpeth team home in third. Jordan Scott took Morpeth into a lead of exactly 1min over the Poly on Leg 2 and Sam Hancox, with the day's fastest time and James Young brought Morpeth home 1min 46secs ahead of Sunderland with Durham finishing in third place.
In the Veterans' Relay, Sunderland led all the way, with first leg runner, Ian Dixon clocking the fastest time. Morpeth finished second a position they occupied after the second leg.
Sunderland won the second edition of the Senior Womens' Relay. Rhian Purves led for Gosforth on Leg 1, clocking the fastest overall time. Robyn Bennett brought Morpeth home in second ahead of Sunderland's Alice Smith. Gosforth still led on Leg 2 but both Morpeth and Sunderland through Eve Quinn were close behind. The Wearsiders took the lead on the final leg through Jenna Wilkinson, who has recently returned, after a teaching spell in Dubai. Morpeth took second place ahead of Gosforth.
Sunderland also won the Veteran Womens' Relay taking the lead on the final leg through Bev Martin. North Shields Poly led after the first two legs, with Louise Hayes clocking the fastest time on Leg 2.
Josh Fiddaman won a highly competitive U17 race, with Lydia James winning the equivalent Girls' event. Euan Duffin gained a convincing victory in the U15 race, with last year's top U13 athlete, Chris Perkins in second place. Katie Francis comfortably won the U15 Girls' event. Tom Slane and Freya Clarkson were successful in the U13 races.
